Dent Repair in Alhambra, Rosemead & Monterey Park: PDR vs. Traditional

Paintless dent repair (PDR) vs. conventional bodywork — which is right for your dings, hail damage, or parking lot mishaps in the West San Gabriel Valley?

What is paintless dent repair?

PDR uses specialized rods, glue tabs, and reflective boards to massage metal back into its original shape from behind the panel — without sanding, body filler, or repainting. When it's a candidate, PDR is faster, cheaper, and preserves your factory paint.

When PDR works (and when it doesn't)

Good PDR candidates: shallow door dings, minor hail damage, dents on accessible panels with intact paint. Poor candidates: dents with cracked or chipped paint, sharp creases, dents on the edge of a panel, or damage on body lines. Our technicians inspect each dent in person and tell you which method gives the best result.

Traditional dent repair

When PDR isn't an option, we use the conventional approach: pull the dent with a stud welder or slide hammer, apply minimal body filler, sand to factory contour, prime, basecoat, and clearcoat. With proper paint matching, the repair is invisible.

Pricing in the West San Gabriel Valley

Small PDR jobs typically run $125–$250. Mid-size dents with paint work run $400–$900. Multi-panel hail or major impact damage is quoted on inspection. Most insurance comprehensive claims (minus deductible) cover hail and vandalism dents.
